Perkumpulan INISIATIF is a civil society organization committed to advancing leadership, public policy innovation, and social transformation to help build an Indonesia that is more just, prosperous, equitable, and sustainable.

Since its establishment in 2005, INISIATIF has believed that the quality of people’s lives is fundamentally shaped by the quality of leadership— leadership that understands the challenges of a changing world, serves the public interest, and possesses the integrity and capacity to drive meaningful change.

Today, INISIATIF serves as a platform for generating ideas, producing knowledge, strengthening leadership, and fostering cross-sector collaboration to address Indonesia’s most pressing development challenges. Guided by the conviction that meaningful transformation begins with informed leadership and collective action, INISIATIF strives to understand change, lead ideas, and contribute to shaping the future.

Why We Exist

The world is entering an era of unprecedented disruption, characterized by rapid transformation and increasing uncertainty.

Indonesia is confronting a series of interconnected challenges: the climate crisis, the energy transition, the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), widening economic inequality, shifting global geopolitics, demographic change, the disruption of information and digital media, and evolving challenges to democracy and governance. Addressing these complex and interrelated issues requires new forms of leadership, new knowledge, and new ways of thinking. INISIATIF exists to help communities, governments, and diverse stakeholders understand these changes and co- create solutions that are just, equitable, and sustainable.
