Dadan Saputra, S.Pd., M.Si

Dadan Saputra,  is a senior civil society practitioner, academic, and public governance professional with more than two decades of experience advancing democratic governance, public policy, transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in Indonesia. As a member of Perkumpulan Inisiatif, he has contributed to initiatives focused on civil society strengthening, social accountability, public policy and budget analysis, policy advocacy, and capacity development for communities and civil society organizations. His extensive engagement in governance and development processes has given him a strong understanding of the institutional, political, and social dynamics shaping public policy at both local and national levels, as well as a demonstrated ability to bridge civil society perspectives with policy processes and development agendas.

Dadan brings substantial cross-sector experience spanning civil society, public institutions, media and communications, and academia. He served as Commissioner of the West Java Regional Broadcasting Commission (KPID) from 2012 to 2019, followed by his appointment as Commissioner of the West Java Information Commission for the 2019–2023 period. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the West Java Information Commission for the 2024–2028 period. Across these roles, he has contributed to strengthening public access to information, institutional accountability, information governance, media and broadcasting policy, and meaningful public participation. This combination of institutional and civil society experience has equipped him with a strategic understanding of the intersection between public policy, state institutions, citizens’ rights, communication, and accountability mechanisms—areas that are highly relevant to international development agendas on good governance, institutional strengthening, democratic governance, and citizen engagement.

Dadan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) and a Master’s degree in Communication, specializing in Political Communication, from Universitas Islam Bandung (UNISBA). He is also engaged in academia at International Women University, contributing to teaching, research, knowledge development, and public literacy. His multidisciplinary experience across civil society, public oversight institutions, policy advocacy, strategic communication, and academia enables him to bring both practical and analytical perspectives to complex governance and development challenges.
