Pius Widiyatmoko, S.T
Pius, is a Senior Civil Society and Governance Specialist, researcher, facilitator, and knowledge practitioner with extensive experience in policy research, civil society strengthening, public governance, and advocacy for transparency and accountability. Through his longstanding engagement with Perkumpulan Inisiatif, he has contributed to evidence-based research, civil society capacity development, strategic networking, and the translation of knowledge into policy ideas and advocacy strategies. His professional experience spans research, learning facilitation, knowledge management, public communication, and collaborative engagement with diverse stakeholders across governance and development agendas.
Pius’s areas of expertise include governance and institutional reform, transparency and public accountability, freedom of information, open government, public policy research and advocacy, natural resources and extractive industries governance, civil society strengthening, knowledge management, and participatory research and facilitation. He has contributed to initiatives that bridge research, public policy, and civil society action, including engagement with the Open Government Partnership agenda in Indonesia. His approach places evidence and knowledge at the centre of policy dialogue and civic engagement, with a strong focus on strengthening public participation, institutional accountability, and more transparent, inclusive, and responsive governance.
With an academic background in Urban and Regional Planning from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Pius brings an interdisciplinary perspective to the relationships between policy, institutions, spatial development, natural resources, and social dynamics. His professional strength lies in connecting research, knowledge, policy, and civic action to generate practical strategies for social and policy change. As a researcher, facilitator, and member of the leadership of Perkumpulan Inisiatif, he continues to contribute to strengthening civil society ecosystems and advancing public governance grounded in transparency, participation, social justice, and the public interest.
